I hope you find this email in the best of spirits. As we go through the difficult time of uncertainty regarding the hajj details, I hope you, me and all of us may find content in the Qada (qadar) of Allah the Almighty.
It would be redundant to mention that the decision by the Saudi Government to cancel all the travel agents 3 weeks prior to the travel date is unfair to say the least if not borderline criminal. In order to prepare for Hajj and to secure rooms and transport, us agents had paid huge sums of money to hotels for deposits and had issued airline tickets for many. Some of this money is unfortunately lost and would never be recovered.
AIRLINE TICKETS: As far as the airline tickets, we’ve been fighting with the airline companies, mostly Turkish & Saudi airlines to have these canceled without any penalties and refund us the amounts. If you had tickets issued, we will update you regarding those refunds separately.
HOTELS: As far as the refunds from the Hotels, a good portion of our money that was with them was returned. ALHAMDO LILLAH RABB AL AALIMEEN. Unfortunately, some of this money is gone forever.
WHAT DOES THIS MEANS FOR YOU?
TOTAL AMOUNT PAID – AIRLINE TOTAL CHARGES (If Issued) = BALANCE OWED
HOW WILL THE MONEY BE REFUNDED? The quickest way for us to return the money will be by depositing into the bank directly. Zelle keeps on hitting the daily limit and is not working out too well so far. If you have any of the following banks (Citi, Chase, Bank Of America, TD Bank, Wells Fargo, capital one, Santander or M&T Bank), we can deposit a check and send you the receipt.
If not, we can mail a check at the address provided. We apologize if you had given us this information previously and would request to please send it again.
WHY WAS THERE A DELAY IN THE REFUND? In order to prepare for the hajj, we had made payments to many vendors and most of our money was stuck with them, The money we were able to recover was prioritized to the people who had to make a payment to the Saudi Motawwif platform. Some of us were able to visit Saudi for Hajj and we hope they remembered us in their Dua's.
FINAL REQUEST: We request everyone to pay an “Administrative Fee” of $150 per person. This is an optional fee but will help us tremendously to cover some portion of the amount that we have lost due to the last minute changes made by the Saudi Government.
